Hatch Notes & News: Mid-March

Sunday, April 1, 5pm. Cafe 1923, 2287 Holbrook, Hamtramck. Board members and other leaders, please come at 4pm for an executive meeting.

The education committee will be having a special meeting Monday, March 26, 6pm; also at Cafe 1923.

All events are free unless stated otherwise.

Saturday, March 24, noon-3pm
Ferndale Gallery Crawl.

Meet at Cafe 1923 at 12 pm, we will plan our route and carpool from there. Stops will include the Lemberg Gallery, Paul Kotula's new gallery, and (tentatively, because a new show is going up Saturday) the Susanne Hilberry Gallery. If we have the energy, we will also drop by Lawrence Street Gallery for their photo show and the Paramount Bank Gallery. Afterward, we will select one of Ferndale's fine restaurants to eat.

Friday, March 30, 7pm - 9pm
Critique Night,
Cafe 1923, 2287 Holbrook, Hamtramck.
The March critique will feature Jide Aje and David Roehig. The public is encouraged to drop in, meet the artists, and discuss their work.

Satuday, March 31, 7pm - 9pm
Game Night,
Michael Marcus residence, 11661 Mitchell St., Hamtramck.
There will be board games, card games, and pizza. Oh my.

Our first juried art exhibition is now on display, with a big variety of good stuff. Come by and see what all the buzz is about! While you're there, be sure to check out our Gumball Machine for insults and prizes.

HATCHED! Opening:
Thanks so much to all our entrants, entertainers, purveyors of food/drink, and all who attended (and sketched at!) our big opening this past March 10. Extra special thanks to the supportive folks who donated money and bought official Hatch buttons and patches. We signed up 4 new members at the opening alone, and made lots of new connections. Jamdown in Hamtown: Our first Sunday concert was a whole lot of fun, and brought in a bit of a crowd, too! Thanks to all who showed up -- we're definitely talking about doing this again soon! Special thanks to Cathie at the New Dodge Lounge for hosting and promoting the show, and of course, to the Desolation Angels and The Badways for donating their talents and bringing the rock.

Our Saturday Workshop schedule has been confirmed! Classes will be held at Peoples Community Services, 8625 Joseph Campau, Hamtramck. There will be a $20 entrance fee per class, $15 for Hatch members.
